Productions 2013-2014

This year brought change, challenge and high energy to the Wayzata High School stage.  Director Adam Hegg arrived to put into motion plans made by retiring director David Doering for the fall and spring musicals.

"Kiss Me, Kate" combined the talents of roughly 90 actors, crew members and musicians.  The production received recognition for outstanding overall performance by the Spotlight Musical Theatre program presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust, which recognizes high school productions statewide.  The production also received many outstanding and honorable mention awards for actors, and recognition for student choreographer Megan Olmscheid.

Winter's Black Box productions brought us "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "The Heidi Chronicles,"  both of which played to sold out houses.  In addition, this year's Minnesota State High School One Act Competition entry, "Dear Charlotte," earned a second place finish in the 6 A A division -- the effort involved one of our largest casts ever for the One Act competition with just under 20 actors.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was our spring musical, involving some 80 students in a fast-paced and fresh production of a crowd favorite.  With our spring production now just as big as our fall production, Wayzata High School offers many opportunities for students to shine in theatre arts.

Additionally, Senior Spotlight gave seven of our graduating seniors an opportunity to hone both their artistic and managerial skills directing their fellow students in a showcase of playwright David Ives.

We are awaiting the announcement of our 2014-1015 season later this summer.  In the meantime, access the pull-out menu from our "production" tab to see more photos from this year's work as well as past seasons presented by our Wayzata Players.
